A salute to the next Rees-Mogg, a proper conservative woman

-

HOW refreshing to hear such honest eloquence from the Brexit Party’s newly revealed star candidate, Annunziata Rees-Mogg – out and proud of being a full-time mother, unhesitant about her double-barrelled name (she’s JRM’s youngest sister) and prepared to put her head above the parapet to be attacked for the sake of her country. We salute her. What a contrast to so many of the Conservative Party’s wimmin MPs, with their received PC wisdom and virtue signalling, who do not recognise a principle even when one stares them in the face – as over Brexit.

In an accomplished debut speech Annunziata told her audience that after taking eight years away from politics to be a mother, she had reluctantly stepped back in because ‘our democracy has been betrayed’; why, after working for the Tory party since 1984, she had left as a result of Theresa May’s failure to deliver the Brexit people voted for:

‘At the point at which our prime minister will not listen, not only to her membership, but will not listen to the people of her country – 17.4million of them – many of whom had never voted before but believed in bringing back control. I can’t sit by and let her do it.’

Tapping into the anger felt across the country, she said: ‘The politicians are not our masters, they are there to do our bidding.’

You can watch her here – and we predict a great political future for her. All our good wishes go with her.
