A slow-motion train crash – the view from the illegal migrant front line

THOSE of us who live close to the illegal migrants’ favoured entry points (who needs Dover when they have 440 miles of Kent and Sussex coastline?) are sick to the back teeth of the intrusion on our daily (and nightly) lives: the clattering helicopters, police sirens and, often, those who have entered without the help of the RNLI knocking on our doors and asking for money and lifts.

We are in the front line – and those near the various migrant encampments here in the UK can now see this problem up close and personal. We can see how our country is falling apart in front of our eyes. My own small coastal community in Kent, normally relatively crime-free, is now recording incidents of non-British men pestering or shouting insults at young women. I have personally had to intervene twice in such incidents. The police seem powerless when they are informed of such events. They do not, in my opinion, appear to be taking it seriously.

At the time of writing, well in excess of 100,000 illegal economic migrants have arrived via the English Channel since 2018. On September 2 this year a whopping 872 arrived on one day. In August six more migrants died by drowning in the Channel – and still no lessons have been learned. (Statistics via

This week alone, 7,000 migrants landed on the Italian island of Lampedusa, outnumbering its own population of 6,000. Many will already be making their way to Calais. Meanwhile, genuine refugees suffer unfairness, inequality and discrimination and worse still, more and more children are being trafficked. I’ve seen it.

Surely the denizens of the Westminster Windfarm must realise how much division and hatred this is causing. It is almost as if they want us, the people, to sort it out for them. They are goading the public. Why?

Who are the Tories so scared of ‘offending’? The illegal incomers, and their self-appointed moral guardians of the Woke Left or their erstwhile EU masters?

Their ineptitude and indecision is an unmitigated recipe for disaster. This summer we have seen a rise of incoming migrants carrying diseases such as diphtheria and TB which died out in this country decades ago. Recently we had the thrill of a ‘bio-hazard’ in Dover harbour; incoming reportedly unwell migrants were disembarked surrounded by personnel clad in hazmat suits and guided into blue tents.

Illegal migrants continued to arrive during the lockdown, many disappearing across the countryside, underlining the inaccuracy of any ‘official’ figures.

The Labour leader Keir Starmer has suggested a new solution to the problem. It’s a gem. A deal with Brussels with the UK taking an additional quota of asylum seekers who arrive in the bloc in exchange for being able to return any others who cross the Channel.

It’s a win-win for the EU. Illegals arriving legally (and some will already have EU citizenship, therefore no need to throw their ID papers overboard) while the UK will still be hopelessly dealing with the illegals, protected by the lawyers and the ECHR and the continuing vain attempt to send any back. A sure way to double the 178,000-case backlog.

The Government has never asked our permission to ferry illegals on to our shores; it has never asked whether we want to fork out for their luxury accommodation, three meals a day, doctors, dentists, interpreters, on-site gyms, day trips to cricket matches, priority housing and full benefits for life.

So Britain now comprises a high-octane mix of cultures, rival gangs and lone-wolf individuals who have brought the conflicts and customs of their own homelands into the heart of most of our large cities. Money-laundering businesses thrive. Child-trafficking – grotesquely evident when witnessing migrant landings at Dungeness – is flourishing. The Government’s own terrorist threat level is constantly at ‘substantial’.

This Government’s reckless policy is making society ever more divided: pitting white against white, white against black, black against black, Asian against black, Asian against Asian.

The UK is not part of the Schengen scheme, so why are we being forced into its conditions?

The Conservatives are now viewed by many, even by some of their own supporters, as a bunch of cowardly lickspittles kowtowing to their Woke-Mammon. As ever-deeper cracks appear in the integrity and stability of this nation, you would have thought the more intelligent among them would see the approaching political apocalypse and collapse of their own livelihoods.

This is a train crash happening in slow-mo, and if they don’t yank the emergency cord very soon I leave you to imagine the dire consequences.

Recently I stood on the beach at Dungeness, looking out to sea visualising WWII pilots crossing the Channel back in the 1940s. In my daydream, I saw a large team of brave men unravelling a huge cotton reel (PLUTO – PipeLine Under The Ocean) under the water to Calais to help fuel the allies’ vehicles on the other side, while their colleagues armed the beach to the teeth with landmines, tripwires, tank traps and all sorts of war paraphernalia to keep out the enemy.

Then I came back to present day reality – to the irony of hundreds of (mostly) unidentified men of fighting age being tracked across the Channel by spotter planes and drones – being greeted with welcome packs and directed to an air-conditioned coach to stay in four-star hotels, whilst our own homeless ex-servicemen languish in shop doorways.
