HomeCOVID-19Are we witnessing the rise of the resistance (at last)?

Are we witnessing the rise of the resistance (at last)?

-

OVER these last two weeks across the Western world there have been some signs of change. ‘Things seem to be improving here? Very suspicious!’ a friend emailed me. Indeed.  No one should be fooled by the apparent awakening of Covid turncoats, so aptly designated by James Delingpole in TCW, or the Prime Minister giving with one hand and taking away with another.

But are we, as Jeffrey A Tucker, founder and president of the Brownstone Institute, argues, finally seeing the rise of the resistance? He thinks that’s what last weekend’s DC Rally in Washington marks. It’s taken two years for the protest movement to manifest itself in the US, but it finally has. Tucker explains why it has taken so long:

‘The lockdowns gradually mutated into another attack on basic freedoms. The vaccines seemed like they might emancipate us from the panic and tyrannies but the beast of tyranny had already been unleashed. What seemed like a promising way of dealing with a disease revealed itself to be an unprecedented attack on individual choice and biology. People who have not complied have seen their lives utterly upended.’

Laura Ingraham on Fox News is also eager to mark what she sees as the unravelling of the Covid narrative. In an episode earlier this month called The Lies That Bind, she says it should be obvious now how Democrat elites have used the pandemic as a way to increase government dependence and government control. But ‘now, unfortunately, for the Biden White House and the regime media, the facts are catching up with them too fast to deflect. And so their old Covid lies and scaremongering, it’s all falling apart fast.’

Here she is again, a couple of days ago, after the DC Rally, observing that some of the most strident supporters of the vaccine mandates are beginning to see the light. She asks her guest, the heroic epidemiologist and cardiologist Dr Peter McCullough, whether the medical cartel is finally surrendering. Did he detect a shift in their thinking? You can watch his reply here:

McCullough praises the work of Senator Ron Johnson’s panel sessions in Washington for putting information in front of the public, and refers to the WHO advice that future boosters could actually weaken the immune system as an example of a turning tide. But a battle over does not mean the war is won.

Dissent and resistance is breaking out in Canada too, right now, in the most visual and real of protests. A Canadian trucker convoy protesting vaccine mandates and more – all that is wrong with Canada under Justin Trudeau as this film shows – has now been joined by American Truckers as rigs stretch 45 miles. Some 50,000 truckers driving from Vancouver in the ‘Freedom Convoy 2022’ are demanding that their government abolish vaccine passports. In a new development it’s been reported that global billionaire Elon Musk has been tweeting his support for the truckers.

Dissent in Europe is harder to find outside pictures of protests.  Yet we are seeing senior scientists and medics calling out the establishment. Israeli Professor Ehud Qimron, for one. As Neville Hodgkinson reports elsewhere on these pages today, the top immunologist and microbiologist at Tel Aviv University has written a powerful letter to his Ministry of Health, lambasting the Israeli and global management of the pandemic. It’s a letter in almost every respect that could have been written to our own Health Department.  As far as I know, it hasn’t been published by any mainstream news provider. For the Daily Sceptic’s Will Jones, Qimron’s intervention marked an ‘apparent shift in narrative from pillars of the lockdown consensus’. Here are the excerpts Will highlighted:

‘Two years late, you finally realise that a respiratory virus cannot be defeated and that any such attempt is doomed to fail. You do not admit it, because you have admitted almost no mistake in the last two years, but in retrospect it is clear that you have failed miserably in almost all of your actions, and even the media is already having a hard time covering your shame.

‘You refused to admit that the infection comes in waves that fade by themselves, despite years of observations and scientific knowledge. You insisted on attributing every decline of a wave solely to your actions, and so through false propaganda “you overcame the plague”. And again you defeated it, and again and again and again.

‘You refused to admit that mass testing is ineffective, despite your own contingency plans explicitly stating so (“Pandemic Influenza Health System Preparedness Plan, 2007”, p. 26).

‘You refused to admit that recovery is more protective than a vaccine, despite previous knowledge and observations showing that non-recovered vaccinated people are more likely to be infected than recovered people. You refused to admit that the vaccinated are contagious despite the observations. Based on this, you hoped to achieve herd immunity by vaccination – and you failed in that as well.

‘You slandered colleagues who did not surrender to you, you turned the people against each other, divided society and polarised the discourse. You branded, without any scientific basis, people who chose not to get vaccinated as enemies of the public and as spreaders of disease. You promote, in an unprecedented way, a draconian policy of discrimination, denial of rights and selection of people, including children, for their medical choice. A selection that lacks any epidemiological justification.

‘When you compare the destructive policies you are pursuing with the sane policies of some other countries, you can clearly see that the destruction you have caused has only added victims beyond the vulnerable to the virus. The economy you ruined, the unemployment you caused, and the children whose education you destroyed are the surplus victims as a result of your own actions only.’

Here it has been left to a brave NHS consultant, Dr Steve James, to take on Health Secretary Sajid Javid on the illogicality and pointlessness of vaccine mandates.

There’s no doubt that the green shoots of medical dissent are not only harder to find but are far less likely to be reported in Europe than in the US. That’s not to say they don’t exist. Here for example is a  powerful intervention given on January 12 by a leading French health official, Professor Christian Perronne, the President of the Commission of Infectious Disease of the High Council on Public Heath, in France, to the Chamber of Deputies of Luxembourg.

You can see his statement here.

Sadly neither his argument nor those of the three other top scientists opposed to the anti-Covid vaccination changed the Luxembourg deputies’ compulsory vaccination decision. But at least they got to present their position. That in itself was a breakthrough, and these doctors need all the backing and encouragement we can give them.

Back home, and on a better-late-than-never basis, we have to welcome the blistering attack on the lockdown modellers by Bob Seely, Conservative MP for the Isle of Wight. He questioned why government, parts of the media and the public health establishment became addicted to doomsday scenarios and then normalised them with such terrible consequences for so many. It’s a start. But despite raging at the £370billion spent on lockdown, at the shutting of schools ‘because we were scared the kids would come home and infect older people’, and ‘doing extraordinary harm to the lives of people — especially young people’, he still says he is not a lockdown sceptic, though fast becoming so. What more evidence does he need? Why the disclaimer?

This is an example of exactly why we must stay vigilant. These are green shoots only. We must nurture them.
