TCW readers must know by now to distrust the BBC. This outdated state broadcaster puts Pravda to shame with its propaganda on Covid-19 and ‘climate change’. Also known for propagating anti-Semitism through its anti-Israel bias, it has now surpassed itself in its recent and bigoted reporting on Jenin.
The account of the Palestinian terrorist attack in Tel Aviv on Sunday epitomises its stance on Israel. Its headline was typically misleading: ‘Seven hurt in Tel Aviv attack as Israel’s raid on Jenin continues.’ What the BBC neglects to mention in this ‘report’ is that this was yet another Islamist terror attack targeting Jewish civilians, a horror which Israelis have repeatedly had to endure. (Where is Ofcom when it is really needed?) The victims are smeared by the not-so-subtle hint that Israel’s ‘raid’ on Jenin is the only culprit here. To bolster this disgraceful headline, the report lists a quote from a Hamas official who blames the terrorist’s motivation solely on Israel’s ‘occupation’.
This Islamist terror group is horrifyingly anti-Semitic, and is even hated by its own people in Gaza. Yet the BBC uncritically parrots its spokesmen, positioning this report to align with Hamas’s ideological position that Israel was asking for it. No counter-narrative on the murky claim of ‘occupation’ is given either. The West Bank is disputed territory, and is not ‘occupied’ by Israel, despite the BBC and Hamas saying otherwise.
The BBC further inflames anti-Semitism in this report by claiming that Israel is ‘targeting the refugee camp’, conjuring up images of vulnerable civilians being bombed for no reason. But the real truth is that Jenin, far more a city than a camp, is a hotbed of Islamist terrorists intent on the destruction of Israel.
The BBC has also omitted important information in this report’s mention of the death toll in Jenin, for example the fact that those killed were Islamist terrorists. By doing so it manipulates the reader into wrongly assuming that Israel is targeting civilians. This report also adds further anti-Semitic tropes by disseminating disinformation from vehemently anti-Israel NGOs, such as that quoted from Médecins Sans Frontières that Israel is bombing hospitals. Unable to verify this, the BBC chose instead to publish an obscure photo as ‘proof’.
Other headlines such as ‘Israel’s Jenin operation reignites Palestinian anger’ serve only to agitate hatred against the Jewish state.
In its fervour to smear Israel as an irrational aggressor in Jenin, the BBC offers no analytical depth or geopolitical context to the conflict, and fails to mention inconvenient facts.
In February, I warned that Iran was stepping up its war of annihilation against the Jewish state by establishing new terror cells in the West Bank.
Six months ago the Palestinian Authority lost security control over Jenin, creating a power vacuum filled by Iran and its proxies including Palestinian Islamic Jihad. This lawless breeding ground for Islamist terrorists is now an epicentre of Iranian-backed Palestinian terrorism, with new Islamist factions competing with each other there in their bloodthirsty, jihadist war against Israel. Hamas too has operatives working throughout the West Bank, bypassing the waning authority of the corrupt Abbas Mahmoud.
The BBC is outraged that Israel has the temerity to defend its borders against those who seek to harm all its citizens, including Jews, Muslims and Christians. Describing the Israeli government as ‘right-
wing’ is not the insult that BBC’s chief propagandist, Jeremy Bowen, thinks it is.
In this latest BBC report on Jenin, the anti-West, anti-Semitic United Nations and its subsidiary, the World Health Organization, get a favoured nod for their ongoing blood libels against Israel. So too do Western politicians who, just like their MSM journalist counterparts, reveal their hypocritical double standards by demanding that Israel shows restraint while they beat the war drums in Ukraine.
Israel has every right to defend itself against Islamist terrorism. The mullahs of Tehran want to establish a global caliphate. For this to succeed, Israel must fall. They certainly have enough useful idiots in the BBC to do their bidding.
