Better late than never – Mogg gets there on Brexit

-

It looks as if Jacob Rees-Mogg MP has been reading our website and in particular my co-editor Kathy Gyngell, who called out the rotten Brexit agreement for what it was and asked the Mogg: Are you letting us all down?

Kathy Gyngell: Jacob Rees-Mogg, are you letting us all down?

On Newsnight on Monday, JRM finally voiced serious concerns about the Brexit deal, especially its impact upon fishing rights.

He admits he is not happy with the transition agreement – although he seemed pleased enough with it when it came out. Now the fishermen who voted for Brexit in their droves have been sold out and Rees-Mogg has put on the brakes, or at least is executing some kind of U-turn, saying: ‘I think this transition agreement is a very unsatisfactory agreement. The only thing that makes it acceptable is that it leads to a proper Brexit agreement . . . it gives away everything with very little in return.’

Exactly. You should have said this at the time, but you didn’t. Still, better late than never.
