Black lives matter – but so does stirring up hatred against Jews

I love all coffee except for the bitter offerings found in Starbucks. And now I have another reason never to set foot in their shops again. In April a Starbucks employee in Philadelphia called the police over two black men suspected of trespassing. In fact they were waiting for a third man to start a business meeting.

After being admonished by Black Lives Matter (BLM) for this infringement Starbucks profusely apologised and promised to hold staff training sessions on racism. These were to be run by the Anti Defamation League (ADL), a Jewish organisation. However BLM activist Tamika Mallory protested that the ADL were ‘racist’ because of their support for Israel, and she accused the ADL of ‘attacking black and brown people‘.

The ADL was then forced to bow out. There is a certain harsh irony to this. The ADL was originally established to protect Jews from anti-Semitism and used to be unashamedly pro-Israel. But under the recent steerage of Jonathan Greenblatt, an ardent Barack Obama fan, ADL policy has shifted to the Left. They have consistently attacked Donald Trump despite his obvious pro-Israel policies. Greenblatt has turned a once-principled organisation into a limp, virtue-signalling mess. Their website now inexplicably boasts support for the anti-Semitic BLM even though, as the Starbucks debacle shows, the support does not go the other way. Appeasement of Islamists and racists never quite works out as planned.

BLM make no attempt to hide their hatred of Jews and Israel. Two years ago they came out with a statement called ‘A Vision for Black Lives‘ accusing Israel, among many other tropes, of genocide against Palestinians. This is a lie and a blood libel. The Palestinian population continues to rise year on year.

Instead of advocating the destruction of Israel, BLM could do important work if they really wanted to. Their narcissism and navel-gazing is detrimental to their cause. Racial discrimination still exists in the West. Most humans are ‘racist’ to a certain extent: it is a hangover from our primitive tribal allegiances so necessary for survival. But this becomes destructive when a person is persecuted or put at a disadvantage because of his or her race.

Despite great progress on equal rights, the spectre of racism still haunts the US. Why, for example, is the imprisonment rate for black women almost double than that for white females? Why are black teens aged 18-19 imprisoned over 12 times more than their white counterparts? Why are black, Hispanic and Native Americans disproportionately killed by US police? These are troubling questions.

Whatever their complex causes they cannot be remedied by stirring up racial hatred towards Jews and spreading tropes about Israel. BLM have also aligned themselves with the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), shifting themselves further away from healing racism into blatantly propagating it.

CAIR are openly anti-Israel, and like all Islamists and Left-wing interest groups they make censoring opposition voices a priority.  In March they joined BLM in a shrill display of contempt for free speech by demanding a judge in Houston resign for daring to criticise them.

BLM mistakenly believe that their allegiance to Islamist agendas, including the destruction of Israel, means that they are ‘fighting racism’. We have heard similar confused mantras parroted at home by the Labour party’s self-proclaimed ‘anti-racists’. Laughably BLM accuse the US of being an ‘imperialist empire’, a phrase which highlights their very limited understanding of global geo-politics. They should not be taken seriously. And like the British Left, they hate their own country. I don’t know why. They are lucky to live in one of the best countries in the world.

Perhaps they should cease their foam-flecked rhetoric for a minute and ask themselves why so many migrants are desperate to enter the US. Surely if the US were as terrible and oppressive as they claim migration would flow the opposite way? Americans would be fleeing to countries in South America and not the other way round. But that hasn’t happened for obvious reasons. BLM would never consider this fact as it doesn’t suit their anti-American narrative.

If BLM really cared about global racism as they claim surely they should be marching through the streets to protest about the plight of black Africans suffering under brutal Arab slavery instead of castigating the West for alleged crimes of racism.

But they won’t because their endemic hatred of Israel and fanatical focus on racism in the West blinds them to situations where black lives are really in danger – like black Africans being paraded in chains around the slave markets of Libya and the Sudan and sold into a life of servitude and often early death.

Despite their grandiose manifestos of anti-racism, BLM and fellow travellers CAIR are simply political vehicles used by the Left and Islamists to propagate racial hatred and divisive identity politics. BLM claim they fight for ‘collective liberation’. But from what? The Civil Rights Act of 1964 enshrined equal rights in the US. The job has been done. Most Westerners are very self-aware of racism and seek to avoid it. Accusing enlightened Westerners of racism without any cause or evidence other than to insult, divide and silence is counterproductive. BLM are demolishing most of the good work done by equal rights campaigners over the past 50 years. As they up their anti-Semitic rhetoric, pitting black Americans against Jewish ones, the once-supportive alliance between the two groups is being forgotten and eroded.

This is why I question the motives of organisations such as BLM and CAIR. What exactly is their end game? Do they want to see the US turn into a failed state, run by Islamists and Judenfrei? Their actions and words certainly indicate this goal.

The parallels between Labour and the Democratic party are becoming increasingly obvious. Both have figureheads who are anti-Semites, such as Jeremy Corbyn and Keith Ellison. And both parties align themselves with Islamic fundamentalists and enemies of the West.

So watch out, Americans. The anti-Semitic, Islamist-worshipping, socialist antics of the British Left are starting to catch on quickly in your country.
