WHO would have thought a year ago that the Daily Mail would be calling MPs such as Boris Johnson, Dominic Raab and Steve Baker ‘hard Brexit zealots’?
These are just some of the Brexiteers at whom yesterday, in effect, the Daily Mail pointed its front-page finger and blamed for the 1,000 wasted days since Britain voted to leave the EU.
Apart from the intemperate use of language on display for a second time for a week from Associated Newspapers, where has the Mail’s political and commercial judgment vanished to? Of course it began to disappear from the moment Geordie Greig took over as editor and changed the paper’s stance on Brexit putting it’s backing behind Mrs May’s pro EU strategy.
How out of tune with Middle England are they prepared to get? Do they really think that turning on Conservative grassroots favourites such as Boris is the way to improve circulation? If this is the next stage of the Mail’s mission to re-educate its readership I wouldn’t bet on its success.
1,000 Wasted days. Exactly 1,000 days ago, Britain voted to leave the EU. Today incompetent MPs and hard Brexit zealots have made us a laughing stock ….. – https://t.co/C2NumkoqQy @JasonGroves1 @johnestevens @David_Churchill#frontpagestoday #UK #DailyMail pic.twitter.com/NRPvZsjAee

If anyone has made us the laughing stock it’s that parody of a Prime Minister who blames everyone else except herself.
