Successor to Lady Winterton in Congleton in 2010, Evangelical Christian Fiona Bruce once said her priority in Parliament was “defending and fighting for the sanctity of human life”.
Scottish born Bruce has led the charge against the horrifying act of sex-selective abortion in the UK.
Bruce proposed a straightforward one line amendment to clarify that UK law prohibits sex-selective abortion in the Government’s Serious Crime Bill.
Regrettably, the major anti-life movement in the UK and opposition from the Prime Minister, Yvette Cooper and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) resulted in Bruce’s amendment being thrown out in the Commons.
Fiona Bruce’s commitment to end sex-selective abortion is admirable and The Conservative Woman hopes she is returned in May to continue to stand up for Christian values.
