Sounder than some Tory MPs, Frank Field is one of Labour’s greatest yet underutilised assets.
Field is a social conservative. He lead the campaign to remove the disgraceful financial conflict of abortion clinics being the sole state-funded providers of counselling to pregnant women contemplating abortion. Unfortunately (although not entirely unpredictably), Field was defeated by the anti-life lobby.
Field has also worked to champion balanced migration, calling for the number of people entering the UK to be closer to the number of those leaving.
Many years ago, Field was a Tory party member. There are many Conservatives who would welcome his return to the flock.
The Conservative Woman thinks that Frank Field should remain a Labour MP and continue to provide a degree of sanity to the socialist benches.
