HUMANS are tribal beings with a herd mentality. We construct shared world-views and narratives to explain the world around us and to help us feel secure. Political parties do this too. If anyone within their ranks changes the communal script, the initial response is to defend these iconoclasts from outside criticism in an attempt to save the tribe from destruction.
This pattern of primitive behaviour is seen in supporters of the Democratic and Labour parties. Under Jeremy Corbyn, Labour has turned into an anti-Semitic, Islamist-supporting, despot-loving cult. Denounce him and accusations of ‘fake news’ or ‘smears’ are yelled by his supporters. And, as I wrote in January, with the election of Representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib into Congress, the Democratic Party is hurtling down the same dark path.
The breakaway TIG group is a warning sign of what may happen to the US Democratic Party if their leadership fails to rein in the terrible trio. Perhaps they are scared of being accused of ‘racism’ if they do? Open anti-Semites now sit in the US Congress. All three Representatives are far more damaging, and Omar more shrewd and dangerous, than anyone found in Westminster.
Unhindered, the three have continued to race-bait, tweet obtusely and undermine American interests at any given opportunity. On 9 February Omar, proving yet again her traitorous leanings and Islamist dogma, called for the defunding of the Department of Homeland Security. If this should happen, those who cheered Al Qaeda’s 9/11 attacks on US soil wouldn’t hesitate to take advantage of any subsequent weakness in security.
One day later Omar falsely accused the lobbying group American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) of paying politicians to support Israel. AIPAC doesn’t finance politicians. But Omar has plenty of funding from a lobbying collection of anti-Semites, Islamic fundamentalists and deluded Left-wing charities. One of her backers is the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), a front for Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood in the US.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi contributed more than £1,500 to Omar’s campaign in September 2018. Surely by then Pelosi must have known of Omar’s allegiance to Islamism and the accompanying stench of anti-Semitism? So why did she fund Omar and why did she appoint her to the powerful House Foreign Affairs Committee? These are not mistakes but deliberate and dangerous decisions. The Democratic leadership has invited, and paid for, the Islamist wolves to walk through the door and into the House.
Forced to make a statement after Pelosi’s demure protestations, Omar’s non-apology was a masterclass in hubris. Ensuring that her sense of victimhood was reiterated, Omar made it all about her and confirmed her original trope. In a flimsy attempt to castigate all lobbyists by creating a comparison between AIPAC and the ‘fossil fuel industry’, Omar seemingly forgot that she took more than £3,300 from various oil companies. Perhaps she doesn’t realise that insulting her funders is not the best way to thank them.
Next time Omar wants to tweet another trope that will not look out of place in that Tsarist forgery, ‘The Protocols of the Elders of Zion’, she really should check the evidence first. But she won’t. Her agenda is not truth but hatred. Far from being contrite, Omar is revelling in her anti-Semitism.
Last year concerned Jewish Minnesota constituents tried to explain anti-Semitism to her. Their naivety is typical of Democrats who cannot understand that no amount of begging will help. It is useless to educate Omar in anti-Semitism: she is already schooled in the hatred of Jews. Their hope that Omar can be ‘mentored’ is similar to the delusions held by Labour moderates still believing that they can change their party ‘from within’.
Omar has no intention of visiting Israel or taking part in reconciliatory talks. Her next slap in the face to American Jews was her engagement as keynote speaker at an Islamic Relief fundraising dinner held on Saturday. Islamic Relief is another Muslim Brotherhood front operating in the US. Omar was due to share a platform with one of their officials, Yousef Abdallah, who openly incites murder of Jews.
Omar has also not objected to being publicly backed by David Duke, a Holocaust denier and former head of the Ku Klux Klan, a rabidly racist group with Democrat roots. Silence is consent.
On 13 February Omar asked Elliot Abrams, the US envoy to Venezuela, if he would support genocide if it helped ‘American interests’. This vile accusation against a Jew is as abhorrent as her scathing disdain of ‘American interests’ and shows exactly where her loyalties lie. And they are not with Congress or the American people.
Tlaib also has a bad habit of associating with assorted Islamists, Holocaust deniers and anti-Semites. She will be speaking at another Islamist banquet on 17 March, hosted by the Hamas-supporting Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR). Abbas Hamideh, an Islamist activist who equates Zionists with Nazis – a blood libel – was photographed attending Tlaib’s swearing-in ceremony in Detroit and attended her private dinner celebration.
Tlaib wrote an opinion piece in 2006 for Final Call, Louis Farrakhan’s publication. Farrakhan, leader of the Nation of Islam, is well known for calling Jews ‘termites’ and ‘satanic’. His rhetoric echoes that of the Nazis. Why have Americans elected someone into Congress who has no qualms about writing an article for an anti-Semite?
The company kept by politicians is a clear indication of their own ideologies. With their anti-Semitism and Islamist predilections, both women have laid bare exactly what they are.
Not letting her sisters down in their anti-American hate fest, Ocasio-Cortez obstructed an investment by Amazon in New York. Only those in the grip of the madness of socialism, as Ocasio-Cortez is, would interpret job creation as ‘dark money’. Surely it is a good step for billionaires to use their wealth to create employment. But Ocasio-Cortez is unable to grasp the basics of economics and politics. Her stupidity has now cost thousands a potential livelihood.
Democratic voters must surely realise they have backed the wrong horse. The only difference between Shamima Begum and the terrible trio is that the former joined an enemy force outside the country. The latter are the enemy within.
