Doctors warn that thousands could die of bowel cancer after halt in screening

The halting of screening for bowel cancer during the government’s lockdown will be responsible for thousands of early deaths from the disease, doctors and scientists have warned. A professor from the Institute of Cancer Research said: ‘Bowel cancer is common but treatable if you detect it promptly . . . The trouble is, since March that screening has been halted’ – Observer
