THERE is a sickness overshadowing the US, and it’s not Covid-19. The last year has seen an unprecedented rise in anti-Semitism. The Democratic Party, dominated by socialists and Islamists united by their hatred of Jews, have certainly contributed to this.
The Democrats excel in toxic rhetoric against the Jewish state. At the start of 2019, I noted that with the election of Representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib into Congress, the party turned into an anti-Semitic cult:
‘The terrible trio won’t be happy until the US resembles a totalitarian state, with socialists and Islamists jostling for power over the masses. If Ocasio-Cortez, Omar and Tlaib are not immediately expelled from Congress their influence will grow and the US may soon resemble the badlands of Somalia, from which Omar once fled.’
‘The Squad’ go way beyond legitimate criticism of Israel and deep into the territory of putrid anti-Semitism. In the same year I also wrote:
‘These women are dangerous politicians, not the saviours of America they and their supporters make them out to be . . . The enemy of the Jews, and the West, is not at the gates but inside the halls of power. Sadly, far too many progressives ignored the terrible trio’s pernicious anti-Semitism from the beginning and instead focused their efforts in disparaging President Donald Trump for imagined slights against Jews, despite all the evidence showing his unparalleled support for Israel.
Suffering from an extreme case of Trump Derangement Syndrome, the Leftie establishment on both sides of the Atlantic overlooked Trump’s remarkable achievement in creating the Abraham Accords last September, the normalisation of ties between Israel and United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Morocco and Sudan; truly a miracle of our time. In a sane and rational world this remarkable peace-making accomplishment would have been hailed by the MSM and the political elite. But we live in a world where it’s ‘racist’ to support the survival of the Jewish people, and where Islamists occupy the highest echelons of power in the US.
With the election of Joe ‘Beijing’ Biden as POTUS, the longevity of the Abraham Accords is in jeopardy. As I wrote in January, Biden is too weak to stand up to Iran. If the Gulf States feel that the US is unsupportive of the Abraham Accords, and is shifting alliances from Israel to Iran, they could seek to distance themselves from the agreement in attempt to appease the Mullahs of Tehran, a dangerous development for the security of Israel.
But the Democrats’ anti-Semitism is far more pernicious at home than in the Middle East. The past few months have shown that the Corbynisation of the party is now complete. The Squad have been hard at work at spreading Jew hatred, proving themselves relentless in their slandering of Israel.
In June, Omar equated the US and Israel with the Taliban and Hamas, showing just how much in contempt she holds not only the country which gave her sanctuary as a child, but also the Jewish state. Two months later she minimised the sheer horror of the 9/11 attacks by saying that ‘some people did something’ and the proceeded to whine about how her civil rights were being infringed on by Jewish groups when there was a justified backlash.
Omar isn’t above demonising Jews outright, accusing them of failing to seek ‘justice’, a euphemism for the destruction of Israel. The Democratic leadership fail to hold Omar to account for her anti-Semitism, too scared of confronting her in case they are accused of racism or ‘Islamophobia’. That Omar still sits on the House Foreign Affairs committee is proof that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is incapable of disciplining her, or any other anti-Semite in the party. Surely my fellow Jews who voted for Biden because ‘Orange Man Bad’ must feel some sort of disquiet over the fact that an Islamist is dictating foreign policy on Israel.
Not to be outdone by Omar, Tlaib has been prolifically propagating blood libels against Israel. She openly declares her desire for Israel to be destroyed. In August, she accused Israel of withholding the body of a Palestinian called Mai Afana. But in her eagerness to condemn the Jewish state, Tlaib neglected to mention that Afana was killed when she rammed her car into Israeli soldiers and attacked them with a knife. Israel refuses to release the bodies of Jihadists like Afana because Hamas refuses to return Israeli bodies and captives. But Islamists like Tlaib have a habit of lying in their pursuit to destroy Israel, and in their unyielding hatred against Jews.
Ocasio-Cortez, no stranger to indulging in anti-Semitism herself, drafted a resolution in May for Congress to block the sale of arms to Israel. Provoking anti-Semitism by accusing Israel of deliberately targeting schools and media outlets in Gaza, she failed to specify that together with hospitals, Hamas uses these places as human shields.
Giving it another bash in September, Ocasio-Cortez spearheaded a vote to remove funding from Israel’s defensive Iron Dome system. This system exists only to protect all Israeli civilians, including Jews, Christians and Muslims, from missile attacks sent by Hamas and Islamic Jihad. Any politician who seeks to stop Israel defending itself against Islamist terrorists can be suspected of wanting to weaken the country to the point that Jews are once again put in mortal danger.
Vice President Kamala Harris is at it too. Last week she praised a student who accused Israel of genocide. Given that Harris claims that she supports Israel it’s indeed odd that she didn’t counteract the trope with the fact the Palestinian population in Israel and Gaza now stands at an all-time high of more than 5.2million. Instead, she chose to legitimise this Islamist propaganda. Despite the sycophantic pieces run by MSM Jewish publications on Harris, she has now proved that anti-Semitism runs deep within the White House.
That any American Jew could vote for a political party which openly harbours anti-Semites is astounding. The attempt to virtue signal their faux outrage of Trump by supporting the Democrats has backfired.
Progressive Jews were quick to accuse Trump of being an anti-Semite, despite his support towards Israel, yet remain suspiciously quiet over the quagmire of Jew hatred in the Democratic Party. Perhaps they have buyer’s remorse.
