THEY say that revenge is a dish best served cold. And so it came to pass at Melbourne Park tennis centre on Sunday.
A mere 12 months ago, Novak Djokovic was deported from Australia by a Liberal Prime Minister and a Liberal government. Now, the still-unvaccinated (as far as we know) Djokovic has returned, possessing the appropriate visa okayed by a Labor government operating in a post-Covid exceptionalism era. Oh, and he’s just won his tenth Australian Tennis Open.
The political low-lifes who arranged Djokovic’s short yet ignominious imprisonment and deportation are called Scott Morrison and Alex Hawke. They are alleged to be conservatives. In reality, they are unprincipled political spivs, now mercifully out of office but still collecting their parliamentary salaries. That are paid by us.
Djokovic seemed particularly emotional after this win. The scenes after the match of him celebrating with his family and team in the stands were memorable. Indeed, they were life-affirming. This wasn’t just a tennis match. It was justice. This is a victory for a whole movement.
He said: ‘What a journey it has been for my family, my team and myself. I appreciate the patience and love you are giving me. This has been one of the most challenging tournaments I have ever played in my life, not playing last year, coming back this year and I want to thank all the people who made me feel comfortable.’
A champion player and a champion man, he is often under-appreciated due to his sharing the career stage with the stylish and charismatic Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. But they never had to go through what Novak has.
Djokovic won Wimbledon last year but wasn’t allowed into America to play in the US Open. On Joe Biden’s say-so. It was singularly appropriate that Bill Gates was in Melbourne to witness Djokovic’s comprehensive victory over Stefanos Tsitsipas. Photos of Gates show him looking forlorn, bordering on miserable.
Gates is the Sultan of Vaccines. The Djoker is the Prince of Covid Dissidents. One wants to vaccinate the world, possibly for sinister reasons. The other is a champion of informed medical consent and the right to medical privacy. And freedom of movement, to boot. A little schadenfreude is surely permissible in relation to poor, sad old Bill.
That, of course, is why Djokovic was deported. Only a fool would have believed that he was a threat to anyone’s health last January. No, the fascist Morrison regime simply couldn’t stand to lose a single battle in its war on Covid scepticism. The government of the seedy and unlamented Scotty and his sidekick Hawke, the NSW party machine man who contributed massively to Morrison’s defeat by rigging NSW Liberal pre-selections, were deeply invested in the vaccines, financially and ideologically. In January 2022, before all the conclusive evidence on the vaccines was in, there was still a propaganda war to be won. ‘Safe and effective’ had to stick. Having this anti-vaxxer cowboy on the prowl in Australia, winning tennis tournaments, was just too much for the political class to stomach.
So out Djokovic went.
The cringeworthy shamelessness of the Covid Liberal government should never be forgotten. Meanwhile the media’s campaign against all things Djokovic continues. His father is a Russian supporter, possibly a Russian war criminal.
Have him deported!
The Murdoch-owned website news.com.au had this to say: ‘Of course, it is important to remember the entire scandal could have been avoided if Djokovic had simply accepted the Covid-19 vaccine. The grounds for his deportation remain in every way valid.’
The clown journalist’s name is Tyson Otto. Marching to the Murdoch drum. Perhaps Otto might do a story on vaccine injuries and deaths, or the silencing of dissident doctors, or the role of nudge units, or the vaccination status of those languishing in hospitals and morgues, or the origins of totalitarianism. Just sayin’, Tyson.
Very, very churlish. Suck it up, princesses. Meanwhile, Bill from Microsoft will now be able to get back to planning the next pandemic. And killing the Western economy.
