Farage, Trump and the sinister US cyber bullies

-

THE Nigel Farage/Coutts Bank scandal has been most revealing. Not least the fact that the oppressive forces of wokery behind a confused inclusive-exclusive UK bank do not approve of Mr Farage’s ties to a certain former US President. Quite why it is the business of a British bank what connection an English client has to a prominent US politician should be the question on everyone’s lips. This is not 1933 and yet the wokeists behave as if it were. ‘Is he good for the money or not?’ should be the only concern of a bank. What has not been revealed, however, are the sources of information that these wokeists might have relied upon to carry out their censorship and cancellations of an ordinary citizen whose only crime seems to be that he does not agree with wokery.

Is it possible that Coutts are among those who endorse this shameful Anglo-American organisation, the Center for Countering Digital Hate (CCDH)? As the US’s Children’s Health Defense (CHD) has pointed out, the CCDH were behind the disgraceful and defamatory identification of the ‘Disinformation Dozen‘ which included the CHD’s chairman Robert F Kennedy Jr and Dr Joseph Mercola, a leading American natural medicine expert. This was the article published in the Guardian in July 2021. Majority of Covid misinformation came from 12 people, report finds  RFK Jr referred to the CCDH in his recent testimony before the US House of Congress, describing their attack on him as a ‘new form of censorship, which is called ‘targeted propaganda,’ where people apply pejoratives like ‘anti-vax’ . . . to silence me’.

Set up in 2017 by Imran Ahmed, a former Merrill Lynch executive and adviser to the Labour Party, CCDH’s original purpose was to tackle online abuse. While CCDH is not transparent about its funders, Children’s Health Defense has discovered that the CCDH, in addition to funding from George Soros’s Open Societies and the Ford Foundation, has backing from some major UK NGOs such as the Esme Fairbairn Foundation, the Joseph Rowntree Reform Trust and the Barrow Cadbury Trust. Given the strongly Quaker background of some of these funders, whose focus is often on alleviating poverty and social injustice, it is truly shocking to find that they are willing to gift money to a censorship organisation whose activities have negatively affected decent people such as Robert F Kennedy Jr and Dr Joseph Mercola – neither of whom remotely fits the profile of online hate or abuse.

Shadowy organisations such as CCDH have no place in a civilised society. The role of monitoring online abuse should be solely the responsibility of government. Isn’t that something that Ofcom is supposed to do? The government should not be abrogating to others its responsibilities by allowing self-appointed bullies to police cyber world. Needless to say, CCDH is not in any sense an open organisation. It does not allow debate. Someone like Professor John F Clauser, the Nobel-prize winning physicist who recently declared that there is no climate emergency, would not find a welcome at CCDH.

If we want to avoid a repeat of what followed in 1933 then we need to be aware of the dangers of censorship and cancellation. Otherwise we risk becoming the new untermenschen, marked out not by ethnicity this time but by creed and similarly ostracised by society by being debanked and deplatformed. In this current climate of oppression it may come as no surprise that Dr Joseph Mercola has now had his bank accounts and those of his employees closed by JP Morgan Chase; one of the accounts having been in operation for 18 years. Dr Mercola has not been given any explanation for their decision. Let’s hope that Nigel Farage’s progress in exposing wokery in the UK, by shaming the UK government and the regulatory authorities into action, helps to turn things around on the other side of the Atlantic too.
