Plenty in the Tory manifesto we disagree with. Pushing more parents into work and more children into childcare, no new grammars, no pledge to meet 2pc defence spending target. We could go on.

But the Prime Minister did play a blinder at the launch. Asked about the ICM/Guardian poll which had the Tories in a six-point lead, Dave quipped, “I could point you to the poll yesterday, if I could find it in the Guardian that is…”

The Conservative Woman would have loved to see Alan Rusbridger’s face when he was handed those results, having used some of the paper’s offshore funds to commission it in the first place.
