Tax cuts for middle incomes. More grammar schools. A bigger transferable tax allowance. More money for the military. All in all, a pretty sound manifesto from Ukip’s Deputy Chairman Suzanne Evans. She’s a conservative woman – and our hero of the day.
Evans has risen through the Ukip ranks after she resigned as a Conservative councillor in Merton in protest over a member of David Cameron’s inner circle mocking activists as “mad swivel-eyed loons”. She is now the anointed successor to Nigel Farage. Not that anyone would want that gig.
To her credit, she has done some fine work with the Ukip manifesto. Costed, conservative and deliverable.
