Hydroxychloroquine IS an effective treatment for Covid

The conclusion of a recently published retrospective analysis that was conducted to compare the 28-day mortality rate in 352 patients treated with hydroxychloroquine with or without azithromycin (HCQ-group) in a hospital with a contemporary control group of 3533 patients receiving standard of care from the Belgian Collaborative Group on COVID-19 Hospital Surveillance, is: ‘It is very plausible that the observed survival benefit reflects a true treatment effect.’ In other words, the treatment was effective.

It is interesting that the researchers note in their introduction to this paper that at the start of the covid crisis but pending results of  appropriate clinical trials, off-label administration of low-dose HCQ was accepted as a treatment option for hospitalized COVID-19 patients in Belgium. However, following safety concerns and ‘a lack of benefit’ in the preliminary results of the RECOVERY trial, the authorisation for use of hydroxychloroquine or azithromycin was rescinded from June 10, 2020 onwards.

Yet those very same RECOVERY trials, which prevented effective treatment protocols being used for sick patients, were themselves deeply flawed, as we reported at the time:

Please see here and here for the damning critiques we published at the time on TCW, of the RECOVERY trial.
