ON Tuesday I psyched myself up again for the commentator sidekick role on Colin Brazier’s two-hour afternoon GB News show. Nearly all of it on the Ukraine war of course. How do you criticise the folly of the West and the current Western tough talk response without appearing tin-eared to the horror of Putin’s invasion? How can you criticise your own country at a time of crisis?
Well, I ran the risk. I think we do have to turn the spotlight on ourselves, and look at exactly how Europe and the US have sleep-walked into this disaster, consistently underestimating what Putin would do and is capable of. The MSM have to understand that it’s no good just casting Putin as the mad evil despot, they need to take a pause from their virtue signalling outrage before Putin cuts off the gas on them or worse, presses the nuclear button, and urgently look at the West’s and Nato’s role in bringing about what should have been an avoidable showdown.
That’s what I tried to get out on the show. There were a few lighter bits as well!
