Former Prime Minister John Major’s Brexit speech was so outrageous yesterday, you could smash your laptop to bits to counter it.

Happily, my laptop survived, because we have Jacob Rees-Mogg MP to analyse this speech and forensically take it apart.

Crucially, The Mogg points out that Major did not allow a free vote on the ruinous Maastricht treaty.

‘Did John Major give a free vote on Maastricht? This is where he really is guilty of being a complete humbug. He whipped that through in the most aggressive whipping in modern history. For that PM then to say ‘Oh, it should be a free vote’, is either forgetting how he behaved himself, ignoring how he behaved himself, or just straightforward hypocrisy.’

If only we had PM Rees-Mogg.
