The Conservative Woman sends its best wishes to Sajid Javid on his promotion to one of the great offices of State. He will need all the goodwill available to deal with the problems that face him at the congenitally dysfunctional Home Office, following the resignation of Amber Rudd.
It is no task for the faint-hearted. So the question is whether Javid is up for taking on this under-staffed and over-burdened department which is struggling and (unsurprisingly) failing to cope with the biggest inward migration that the UK has ever faced – some half a million people plus more than 30,000 asylum seekers per year, and an estimated illegal immigrant population of a million.
We hope Mr Javid will realise that this crisis of impossible numbers is down to the inherently racist cheap-labour immigration policy the country has been running since the former Prime Minister Tony Blair opened our borders to the EU (and therefore to beyond).
So does Mr Javid have the stamina for the fight?
Well, here is his voting record.
We would say the jury is out.
