Conservative men, how is that Dave Cameron deal working out for you? Is he fabulously conservative, the real deal? What’s that you say, not so conservative after all, a flipper flopper – a lover of stealth tax, a borrower supreme, European loyalist and, of course, not in the slightest socially conservative? Well, we told you so.
It is beginning to dawn on many well-known conservatives something we here at The Conservative Woman have been saying for sometime. Call me Dave is not a conservative in any shape or form. Not economically, not socially, and certainly not politically.
Of course, none of them cared that much (with some notable exceptions) when Dave was the ultra social liberal. But now, when the taxes on Coca-Cola are coming thick and fast, when he is proposing to discriminate against graduates from public school we are seeing a change. And then there is Europe.
Dave never intended to leave the EU, ever. Do you see that now? Before the election it was all, “I will only campaign to stay in a reformed EU”, which we never got.
You never hear Dave talk about how great the reforms are now because they are piddling and everyone knows it. All of the Remain campaign points would apply even if there was a great reform package (which there is not) but no one seems to point this out. So why did he bother? Well he didn’t, as there was no negotiation or reform to speak of, which is why Dave never speaks of it.
Are we to believe that if Dave had not got his ‘reform package’ he would be campaigning to leave the EU, even though all his ‘frightening’ consequences would still apply? Of course not – because Dave loves the EU. He is a not only a big state progressive, he is a big superstate progressive, as superstates serve the progressive rich.
Anyway, over the last few months some of Dave’s most loyal minions have turned against him one by one. It all seems a bit late in the day if you ask me, but better late than never, I guess.
You should have listened to us, the Conservative women. First – Dave is a liberal – politically, economically and of course socially. Dave is ruthless; he will do anything to get his way. And Dave is a European, not just a true blue but a true blue with glittering gold stars on the inside.
So welcome conservative men to this side of the house. Now go make us a cup of tea. We are tired of pointing out the obvious all these months.
