Loyal and long-standing Conservative Woman readers will know that there is nothing, positively nothing, I like more than a good wedding. If I may quote myself in this blog,
“I relish being invited to a wedding…..I always get excited about it.”
So I was ecstatic to hear that Mr Chuka Harrison Umunna MP is engaged to his now fiancée, Miss Alice Elizabeth Jane Sullivan.
The engagement was announced in The Times, a touch of class.
And loyal and long-standing Conservative Woman readers will also understand that I am absolutely delighted that Mr Umunna will be referring to Ms Sullivan as his fiancé and not his girlfriend.
Again, according to myself, “marriage remains for some a huge commitment and life transition. It is something to celebrate. The couple are entering a state of grace – a union of unconditional love. It is a civil institution difficult to build and maintain but easy to destroy. It should remain the bedrock of conservatism.”
I doubt will get to witness this bride “walk down the aisle to the first chords of Ave Maria” but that does not diminish the joy one bit.
The champagne flutes are out at The Conservative Woman.
