The fall-out from the Boris Johnson burka episode continues, and it has been turned into a not-so-subtle smear campaign to link both Johnson and Jacob Rees-Mogg to Steve Bannon, so-called architect of the Trump win.
Journalists who should know better are now routinely referring to both Johnson and JRM as members of that phantom menace, the ‘alt-right’, or just good old-fashioned fascists. How both politicians, one socially liberal and pro-immigration and and the other socially conservative and pretty pro-immigration-ish, could be part of this group is a mystery to me.
I appeared on the BBC radio Today programme yesterday, the very last item, to discuss what influence Bannon actually has and the ongoing smear campaign against Johnson, at 8:55am.
