Laura Perrins: One law for celebs, another for plebs

-

I pride myself on clarity. I am nothing if not accurate, crystal clear, unambiguous if you will. But for this blog, I, along with all other publications, am injuncted, barred, silenced from reporting on the ‘open relationship’ of a married celebrity couple. It is taboo.

The wise judges of the Appeal Court have decided that the privacy of the couple and their children trump your right to know of this adulterous affair. No doubt these judges are puffed up with the thoughts of their superiority in not being interested in the titillation and gossip that us knuckle-dragging plebs are interested, but this case goes way, way, way beyond celebrity gossip. It goes to the meaning of marriage itself.

These unelected judges have decided that “infidelity is a private matter.” What’s that? Oh do point to the legislation, please judge, that suddenly transformed a public institution of marriage into a private matter entirely between two adults.

Oh you cannot – because it is does not exist which means you Wise Ones are acting as the legislature – a clear judicial over-reach. I have explained before how open marriages are a matter of public interest. The only reason we support marriage is because the couple devote themselves to each other because this is what is in the interests of children first and women second (it stops women from constantly having to compete with each other). A married couple is not meant to be mere housemates who share bills.

The second issue of course is the stinking, the rank, and the odious hypocrisy of it all. Speaking in general terms now, (of course) most celebs have no problem sharing their marriages on social media, in the magazines of Hello and OK!. The kids sometimes are used as lovely accessories.

But then when they the adults behave in such away that pierces this cosy domestic image they have the temerity to lawyer-up, march on down to the courts and super injunct us all from talking about it.

Suddenly privacy is all the rage and someone must ‘think of the children’. Not that they were thinking of the children while conducting their adulterous affair/open marriages/threesome mind you, but that seems to be beside the point.

What the courts are participating is a mass deception of the plebs on an Orwellian scale. It is an abuse of the courts and the justice system that rich powerful celebs are using Human Rights legislation in such away. It is an epic fail and brings the legal system into disrepute.
