Preparing children for life in modern Britain is now a key demand of Commander Nicky Morgan and her enforcers in Ofsted. In fact, it is using the education system to impose an ultra-left wing agenda on schoolchildren without their parent’s consent.
Are you preparing your children for life in modern Britain, the same Britain that is the single-parent capital of Western Europe? Are you preparing your children for modern Britain where the teenage pregnancy rate remains stubbornly high despite a recent drop in numbers? How about the Britain that sees the terms wife, husband and mother expunged from policy documents on the importance of the family.
This is the modern Britain that is awash with pornography on the internet, and sees constant calls to legalise drugs. Modern Britain with binge drinking that closes down our town centres every night. I trust you are embracing it.
I do hope you are preparing to tell your children that marriage is just the same as cohabitation – even if you are a Catholic or Jew where marriage is the cornerstone of family life? Modern Britain where it was reported that there were 34,000 ChildLine consultations with children, some as young as 12, saying they were contemplating suicide. I mean what is not to like?
At the weekend, faith schools were told that they must “actively promote” not just gay marriage and gay rights but transgender rights also. So we know that this is not about tolerance and respect or tackling homophobic bullying. This is about the transgender agenda making its way into primary schools.
Parents are you ready to inform your six-year-old that they are not in fact a girl or boy, but that gender is “fluid”? Are you informing them that gender “is a social construct”. This is a political view of the ultra liberal left but now we can expect an Ofsted inspector to start interrogating your children over any alleged “intolerance” of it. You think I am exaggerating – it has occurred in the US already where teachers were ordered to stop referring to pupils as girls and boys and call them “purple penguins” instead.
Ofsted inspectors have threatened to downgrade Christian schools for failing to let an imam lead an assembly. Agents of the state, in the guise of Ofsted, have marched into Jewish schools and interrogated girls over whether they have been “taught enough about lesbianism, whether they had boyfriends and if they knew where babies came from”. This is all now a legitimate part of the education inspectorate system. In fact it is Big Brother run amok.
Now, do not get me wrong. I like many features of modern Britain. But there are aspects of modern Britain I will be preparing my children for, in that I will initially be protecting them from and then issuing stark warnings about. But I don’t think this is what Ofsted has in mind.
Let’s take iPhones for which the Jewish girls were berated for not possessing. Good for you Jewish parents. I intend to withhold said devices from my own children for as long as possible.
I don’t really fancy my son spending hours of his day looking at pornography and I don’t want my daughter being subject to this misogyny or indeed frequent socially bullying. I would like them to live in the real world and not the virtual world for as long as possible. And since when does the State in the guise of Ofsted get to dictate to parents when boyfriends should be on the scene?
I will not be throwing the kids to wolves in terms of embracing life in modern Britain that features excessive drinking, endless screen time, the wretched X-Factor or exposure to relentless consumerism. I will celebrate marriage as the cornerstone of family life whether Nicky Morgan likes it our not.
I am happy for my children to be aware of other cultures and traditions, but that is distinct from having a State agent direct us all to embrace them as though they are our own. This is the definition of authoritarian State intervention into family life and religious belief.
What this new diktat from Ofsted, executed by ever compliant Yes Minister Morgan, tells us that anyone who is not onboard with the ultra left liberal agenda will harassed and threatened. If you have a different world-view to the liberal elite, then you will not be tolerated. This is a declaration of war against anyone with socially conservative, especially Christian socially conservative views.
Finally it also shows how liberal the Conservative party is. They are not a ‘centre right’ broad church party. This is a load of old baloney.
Ordering schools to promote the transgender rights agenda is straight from the ultra left agenda, something that would never enjoy broad democratic support. Ordering Church of England schools to invite imams to lead school assemblies is part of the ultra left agenda. Wiping out terms husband, wife and mothers from policy documents on the family, is part of the ultra left agenda – something you would have found only in ultra left University Wimmins Studies Departments in the 1970s .
Devoting your governing term to separating mothers from their preschool children and infants for them to be deposited in State subsidised nurseries is part of the ultra left agenda. This Conservative Party has lead on everyone single one of these changes, sometimes instigated by stealth, hoping we would not notice. We have.
