Dear angry mob of the Left, the people of Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Iowa owe you nothing. They do not owe you an apology for how they voted in their presidential election.
The out-of-work steel worker in Pennsylvania owes the Islington chattering classes neither explanation nor regret for voting Trump. The non-college educated white male so hated and disdained by the feminist sneering media does not want your understanding or compassion, although your reaction to his vote demonstrates you have neither quality.
Since the election of Trump the mask has slipped pretty quickly from the Left, has it not? It was not the patriarchy they hated, or the alt-right – it was ‘the people.’ The ordinary decent people of flyover land who voted for Trump.
Here we see Laurie Penny actually put the phrase, the people, in scare quotes – “scare quotes” – and denounce democracy.
It is the same for the rioters on the street. In truth, they want a progressive dictatorship with them in charge. They disdain democracy and the electoral college of the US in particular. If people have an opinion or a vote they might end up disagreeing with you. And we cannot have that.
The people who dared to vote the other way, be it white males or college-educated white women have been libelled as racists and sexists. When the few commentators on the Right urged the Left to try to understand the motivations behind the vote they were promptly told to drop dead.
But we did this for your own good so that you might learn something. Only Michael Moore has sought to explain the Trump movement.
The reaction of the rest of the Left shows they seek neither knowledge nor understanding of anyone who disagrees with them because in truth, they hate them. Liberals talk about the hatred of the Right – but it is an emotion they so recognise because they feel it in their hearts themselves. And it has been an ugly revelation.
Now the same media elite who told us that it was mathematically impossible for Trump to win will tell us why he won. Those who voted for him are racists, sexists and homophobes– even college- educated women who voted for him in their hundreds of thousands. They will ignore all the data that say it was the economy, economy and economy followed by border control that decided this election. Journalists and newspapers of record will report lies as fact and opinion as reality. And their power will continue to fade.
The Left is hoping Trump will be a one-term president. Don’t bet on it. If he gets the infrastructure and tax cut bill past Congress and restores order to the inner cities (as Giuliani did to New York) he could possibly build a coalition with black voters. If their lives improve under Trump, perhaps instead of staying at home – as millions did – they might turn out not for the Democrats but for the Republicans. And Trump’s numbers are already rising amongst Hispanics.
When the war on gays and women fails to materialise because it does not exist and instead Trump passes maternity leave, watch the Democrat politics of division dissipate further. They think things are bad now for their party. After four years of Republican coalition building, the histrionics will be epic.
