The Women against Feminism hashtag continues to trend on Twitter and is gaining mainstream media coverage. Giving feminism the benefit of the doubt for now, why would modern Western women, who have gained so much from the movement, now turn their backs on it? It is infuriating the card-carrying feminists.
When examining feminism it is necessary to segregate “classical feminism” from the contemporary. Classical feminism believes in equality between the sexes. Many women, including myself, believe this has been achieved and is embedded in Western liberal cultural and legal tradition. Contemporary feminists do not believe we have reached this point and attribute any differences between the genders to either “social conditioning’ or ‘the patriarchy.’
The main complaints against feminism from women against feminism are that they trash stay-at-home mothers; they believe in establishing not just equality but superiority of women over men; and, for me the worst aspect, is its embracing the culture of death.
The first and the most obvious problem with feminism to me is how prominent feminists have trashed full-time mothers. I have written extensively about this before. This lovely woman explains why “she looks down on young women with husband and kids and that she is not sorry.” She gets emotional about women who care for their own kids, so much so that, “Every time I hear someone say that feminism is about validating every choice a woman makes I have to fight back vomit.”
We have this very recent piece from feminist Bible Slate that implies that any woman who chooses to leave employment to care for their own children cannot be acting rationally, the only reason women need a break after childbirth is to recover physically, and fails to recognise maternal bonding with ones child. The killer is the final few words which calls for more maternity leave so that afterwards more mothers of small children will return to work so “we’d make everybody more productive.” Yes, because caring, raising and educating your own children is not productive – it’s just lazy. I don’t need feminists like these “fighting for my rights”. Thanks, but no thanks.
So experience not rhetoric tells me that feminists do not respect women who care for their children at home – even when many of those same women identify as feminists.
The only group of people feminists loathe more than full-time mothers are men and masculinity. The retort is that feminism is about equality not superiority. But if this was the case then feminists should have a major problem with the fact that in the UK girls outperform boys in primary school, secondary school and university. This is not something to be celebrated if you believe in “equality” between the sexes and not superiority.
Feminists should worry that boys are vastly over-represented in diagnoses of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Essentially thousands of boys are being drugged – drugged – to crush their boyness and fit into the feminised school environment.
If you want little boys to have their boisterousness and boyness destroyed you are not just a man-hater – you are a boy-hater. And, as above, if you believe men who are accused of rape but have not even been charged should be hounded from their jobs or positions of prominence, you are a man-hater.
Finally, however, for me, the feminist embrace of the culture of death is what absolutely prohibits me from identifying as one. Abortion is seen not a necessary evil to be used in the very, very last resort to prevent women from being butchered in some backstreet abortionist. To the feminists, abortion is sacrosanct and something to be celebrated.
The current abortion culture in the US sees legalised butchers like Dr Kermit Gosnell operate with impunity. The grand jury report into his abortion clinic found that he killed babies born alive, well after the State limit of 24 weeks. It found, “Gosnell had a simple solution for the unwanted babies he delivered: he killed them,” by “sticking scissors into the back of the baby’s neck and cutting the spinal cord.”
The UK sees nearly 200,000 abortions a years. And US politicians like Wendy Davis, who defend the aborting of 7 and 8 month old unborn children, are feted for the pink sneakers she wears.
This worship of the culture of the death has now spread to end of life. Prominent feminists are now campaigning for senile women to be terminated, even if it includes themselves (and no I don’t think this makes them selfless or noble) should they become a ‘burden on their families’ (a duty to die or be killed). They want this “right” not because they are dying, or in excessive pain but because of dementia. The possibilities for killing of the elderly on this basis are endless.
It is feminism and its whole-hearted embrace of the culture of death that I will not accept.
