Christiane Amanpour, for those of you too worn down by the BBC Today programme’s relentless Brexit bashing to listen any more, stood in as Sarah Sands’s latest guest presenter last Friday, hard on the heels of remainiac Stephanie Flanders.
The confident reporter for the Trump-bashing CNN was given leave of absence to appear on Britain’s top Trump-bashing programme, and boy, did she deliver. ‘I have such respect for the programme,’ she told the Guardian – who else? – in advance. Sarah Sands, joining the love-in, said she was ‘delighted’ to have ‘a first-rate journalist who has held power to account round the world’. It can hardly be said that Christiane did anything such thing with her special guest Jake Sullivan, a former director of policy planning for Obama. She let him continue uninterrupted, except for her affirmative comments, in a tirade of anti-Trump abuse.
Who next can we expect as Today’s Leftie lady guest presenter?
Hillary Clinton? After her triumph on Andrew Marr, Graham Norton, Woman’s Hour etc – all of whom cleared their decks for her last Friday as well for more vintage BBC Trump-bashing. They all allowed her to blame everyone but herself for her failure to score, so I am sure her respect for the BBC, too, now knows no bounds.
