The owners of a Derbyshire restaurant have been forced to remove foie gras – the goose-based French delicacy – from their menu after being besieged by animal rights activists.
David and Samantha McHattie of the Bridge Inn had been repeatedly “bullied and intimidated” by four separate protests, with one customer being left “visibly shaken” by a “torrent of intimidating abuse”.
The activists, some with unkempt facial hair and knitted bobble hats, even sunk so low as to compare one of the restaurant’s owners to “the terrorist involved in the recent London attack”.
Then they say that the English prefer animals to people.
