BBC luvvies have rejoiced at the sacking of John Whittingdale as Culture Secretary.
‘Whoops and cheers’ were heard to ring round the BBC newsroom at the demise of the man who had the nerve to tell the BBC that they had to reform.
Among the reforms were a reasonable reduction in the Beeb budget – just as in other publicly funded entities – and the requirement for the BBC to publish the names of employees earning more than £450,000 a year (of our money).
So much for being the impartial public broadcaster.
