It seems anything can be accused of ‘cultural appropriation’ these days…even hair, as unfortunate actress Alice Eve found out.
After she innocently posted a picture of her hair in braids while on holiday, the internet failed to keep its hair on – erupting into anger at Eve having the temerity to sport ‘African corn rows’ on a Jamaican holiday.
The Star Trek actress was catapulted at warp speed into the most PC environment known to man (the 21st century) – being accused of ignoring the struggles facing black communities. One critic told her: ‘You take what you like from us but don’t get the pain that went with it.’
Oxford-educated Eve must have thought she had escaped the unrelenting scrutiny of victimhood when she left university, but in today’s world such hopes belong on another planet.
