Royal Dutch Airlines, KLM, clearly want to court the multi-coloured rainbow hued dollar. Recently, in an effort to flourish its pro-LGBT credentials, it produced an advertisement featuring a picture of three sets of facing seatbelts, all unfastened. On top were two facing ‘female’ ends. In the middle two ‘male’ ends and at the bottom there was a ‘male’ end facing a ‘female’ end.
Beneath the illustration there was the right on progressive line: ‘It doesn’t matter who you click with’.
Someone should tell KLM that when it comes to seatbelts it does matter who you click with. In the event of a crash it is only an opposite seatbelt pair that can save your life.
If you ever fly with KLM, please pay attention to the pre-flight demonstration by the cabin crew, it might not be as boring as it usually is.
