A school has banned pupils from raising their hands to answer questions. Yes, you read that correctly.
The principal (whatever happened to calling them headteachers?) of Samworth Church Academy in Nottinghamshire has banned the “age-old practice”. Pupils will now only raise their arms “to establish silence for listening.”
Barry Found believes ‘hands up’ is discriminatory because it “does not support the learning of all”.
So yet more of the ‘all must have prizes’ nonsense that has seen our schools tumble down the world rankings. They will be laughing their socks off in Shanghai and Singapore.
