A study by Swedish police has concluded that the rise in sexual assaults perpetrated by migrants is the fault of ‘Nordic alcohol culture’ and ‘non-traditional gender roles’.
This would be the same ‘alcohol culture’ that generations of Swedes have embraced without feeling the additional need to rape. It’s clear too that the recent arrivals missed out on feminist theory classes.
If readers detect that non-Scandinavian factors might be to blame, the report has a ready and tested scapegoat: the ‘problem’ of masculinity. The document defines it mainly as a product of peer pressure, exemplified by aggression towards and oppression of women.
Victim-blaming is only right when the government does it, and if in doubt, blame men.
