The dwindling few who stay up to watch Newsnight were ‘treated’ to what Emily Maitlis called an “acclaimed poet”, who ranted into a microphone as the credits rolled.
‘Poet’ Kate Tempest closed out the programme with a shouty rendition of her poem ‘Tunnel Vision’, which railed against the “sickness in our culture” of a Tory governed Britain and implied that Isis atrocities and the migrant crisis were all our fault.
She yelled that, “they were our bombs that started this war and now it rages at distance we can dismiss all the victims as strangers” and that “they were our boats that sailed, killed, stole and made frail; they were out boots that stamped, they were our courts that jailed, they were our banks that got bailed”. Charming.
How much of our licence fee was wasted on this juvenile, Corbynite propaganda?
