Labour’s leadership contest – for this year, at least – has entered its final few days, with arguments turning to biscuits, children’s propaganda and a contender who is not contending.
Jeremy Corbyn outraged Mumsnet users by refusing to answer their flagship question on his favourite biscuit. “I’m totally anti-sugar on health grounds”, the keen jam-maker said.
This was after it was announced that Corbyn’s sinister grassroots network, Momentum, would be launching a children’s group. Trot tots unite!
Meanwhile, Corbyn’s ‘challenger’ Owen Smith, in one of his final bids for victory, said that he “wasn’t in favour of there being a challenge” to Corbyn’s leadership. Ok, then..
The sooner this is over, the better – both the contest and Labour itself.
