For the second general election in a row, the Church of England is to advise people on how to vote in its latest attempt to become Oxfam in a dog collar. We can think of one vicar’s daughter who will be watching this carefully.
Church leaders are to issue guidance before manifestos are published, with their 2015 pamphlet offering up some gems, such as telling us that “traditional arguments for nuclear deterrence need re-examining”….now which party leader also has these views?
No doubt the ‘advice’ will constitute coming together after a ‘divisive’ democratic referendum Archbishop Welby made known to his weary travellers that he hated.
This may be the Church trying to be a bit more ‘relevant’, but if they are not careful, they will switch off even more of their dwindling demos.
