Perhaps we can give Natalie Bennett the benefit of the doubt. In the media frenzy over Brexit, you need to say ever more outrageous things to be noticed.
So the outgoing Green leader has claimed on LBC that the European Parliament is in reality more democratic than its Westminster counterpart, since the former is elected by proportional votes.
That may well be, but what is the point of a fair voting system when the representatives join a body that can neither propose nor repeal any legislation?
We guess it’s the thought that counts.
