NOT content with claiming that white papal smoke is racist and sabotaging Comic Relief finances, David Lammy, Labour MP for Tottenham, has now resorted to spreading blatant lies about Brexit voters. Earlier this week Lammy tweeted this in response to Andrew Marr’s monologue on the background to Brexit:
‘This is a complete caricature of the truth that only aids the hard right. His argument relies on the false idea that all leave voters were from the industrial north. Actually most Brexit voters were from the Tory wealthy, privileged south!’

Lammy studied law at Harvard and has been an MP for almost 20 years. He is obviously an intelligent man and an established and well-known figure with over half a million followers on Twitter. So why does he spend so much time tweeting inflammatory nonsense? Why has Lammy become a reactionary agitator and race-baiter rather than the healer he purports to be? Not only does his relentless foolishness come across as a cheap ploy to attract more followers, he also continually insults 17.4million Brexit voters.
The Remain cult, in a frenzied attempt to overturn the democratic process, accuse Brexiteers of being badly educated racists who did not know what they were voting for. But I, an educated Jewish immigrant, knew exactly what I was doing when I voted for Brexit, as did many from other ethnic minority groups who did the same.
To make up for the fact that ‘racist’ has lost most of its meaning, the woke European Union (EU) fanatics have started to use ‘hard Right’ and ‘privilege’ instead. There is much debate on what constitutes the ‘hard, alt and far Right’. But many Britons, including most who voted to leave the EU, should not be classified as such. To use ‘hate crime/speech’ statistics is also wrong and unrepresentative of the obvious fact that if Britain was truly run by the ‘hard Right’, as Lammy implies, ethnic minority groups would be in peril, which they are not. The only Brownshirt behaviour I can see is that of Labour members towards Jews. And the use of escalating ‘hate crime/speech’ figures as proof of racism is a misnomer, considering that even looking at someone the wrong way is considered a hate crime according to the Orwellian police website True Vision.
Most Brexit voters were not from the ‘Tory wealthy, privileged south’. Almost 60 per cent of those living in London, and around 52 per cent in the South East and South West, voted for Remain. https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-36616028
Swathes of communities, both within and outside Lammy’s London bubble, have been devastated by EU policies. Uncontrolled immigration has put pressure on resources and destroyed community identities.
Boston, in Lincolnshire, is an economically deprived area where most people earn less than £17,000 a year. It’s also the town which has attracted the most Eastern European immigrants. No wonder 76 per cent of the residents there voted for Brexit.
EU fishery policies have wrecked working-class communities all over the country. http://ffl.org.uk/1603-03/ No wonder these communities, such as Lowestoft and Great Yarmouth in East Anglia, also overwhelmingly voted for Brexit. Unsurprisingly all seven Suffolk districts voted to leave the EU.
Over a third of Labour members voted for Brexit, including the majority of working-class Labour supporters in Wales. Over 71 per cent of Welsh voters took part in the referendum, with Brexit winning there with over 52 per cent.
Perhaps Lammy needs to consult a map to see that west and east are not south. He also has a strange understanding of what constitutes the ‘privileged south’.
Two-thirds of those living in Barking and Dagenham – not exactly known for its privileged lifestyle – voted to leave the EU. Reports show that 34 per cent of people in the borough of Haringey, of which Tottenham is part, live in poverty. Over a quarter of them – 25,855 – voted for Brexit. Lammy ignores these facts and the concerns of his own constituency members.
So much for those wealthy Brexit voters down south. Lammy’s cognitive dissonance is astounding. He implies that 17.4million Britons are racists yet he advocates overturning a democratic vote – the epitome of fascist tendencies.
The new hard right is rapidly gaining momentum.
To take them on, Labour needs as clear a message in favour of our EU membership as they have against it.

Contrary to attempts to portray it as such, the EU is not a paragon of peace and virtue. Its many pernicious qualities include racist policies towards the world’s only Jewish state. The EU is spearheaded by Germany – a country which has form when it comes to Jews. Those who support the EU discredit themselves.
Lammy is also a hypocrite. Despite his presence at the Enough is Enough rally against Labour’s anti-Semitism last March, he blithely tweeted a blood libel against Israel in the same month and remains loyal to Labour despite its endemic anti-Semitism.
Horrified by the massacre of peaceful protestors in Gaza by Israeli forces. UK government must condemn this horrendous atrocity. https://t.co/CtyNxYVzYM

Lammy nominated Jeremy Corbyn as party leader, which automatically calls into question his judgment on all things political.
Despite Lammy’s obsession with seeing racism everywhere – to the point of parody – the British people are among the least racist people in the world. Instead of being divisive he should attempt, for once, to unify. What a pity that David Lammy, an educated Christian with an obvious desire to help those less fortunate, keeps getting it so wrong.
