A French police vehicle recently made an illegal crossing of the Italian border to dump two illegal immigrants in an Italian forest, before racing back to the Hautes-Alpes region of south-eastern France. With the exception of the Daily Express, this novel way of dealing with the EU’s problem of illegal immigration has, at the time of writing, received little coverage in the British media.
The Italian media has been less reticent but English-speaking television viewers have had to rely on the Russian TV news channel RT:
Given the accusations levelled at RT for one-sided reporting, it is strange indeed that the main TV news channels in the UK appear to have side-stepped the issues raised by this French state-sponsored criminality. Surely even such an unflattering picture of what is happening under France’s Europhile President should be reported?
Imagine, if you will, a French a police vehicle travelling through the Channel Tunnel and dumping a couple of illegal immigrants beyond border control in Kent, before racing back to Calais. Would that be hushed up, or played down, too? Are some EU news stories just too embarrassing to cover? Is an element of aiding and abetting by the French state of illegal immigration from France to the UK already going on?
Since, on this occasion, its officers were caught on Italian surveillance cameras, the French police force has had to admit its criminal behaviour: ‘A gendarmerie vehicle crossed the border without notifying Italian police . . . Crossing into Italian territory without their prior approval was a mistake.’
This is not the first time in recent months, however, that French police have made an illegal incursion into Italy.
President Macron appears to regard himself as morally superior to the rest of us. Certainly, he sees himself as a cut above the government elected by his neighbours in Italy. Indeed, he would like the world to know that he regards Italy’s recent clampdown on illegal immigration across the Mediterranean as ‘sickening’ and ‘nauseating’. The Corporation is keen for us to understand Macron’s perspective on what he identifies as ‘a European civil war’ between ‘liberal democracy and rising authoritarianism.’
Macron likes to portray himself as the man of virtue in this war. He is the modern liberal, promoting a creed of harmony between nations. The EU customs union is but a step on the pathway to a United States of Europe. This country of Europe will embody the promises of the French Revolution – ‘liberty, equality and fraternity’. The Europe envisaged by Macron is not so far from the Europe promised, but not delivered, by Bonaparte. Noble idealism is a good disguise for Europhile zealotry that intends to rob nation states of their sovereignty.
This French president is a most unattractive and dangerous politician. The gulf between the rhetoric and the reality is stark. He condemns Italy, largely on humanitarian grounds, for tightening up on illegal immigration. At the same time, he has mostly closed French borders to immigrants and presides over anti-immigrant criminality by his own police force.
Macron’s ‘humanity’ was exposed by the recent Oxfam report Nowhere but Out. On the border at Ventimiglia, unaccompanied children as young as 12 were reported as being incarcerated and left without food or water before having the soles of their shoes cut off and being forced back to Italy.
A single incident exposed by Oxfam sums up what lies behind Macron’s mask of virtue. A ‘very young’ Eritrean girl carrying her 40-day-old baby was forced to walk back across the border to Ventimiglia along a road with no pavement. Some humanity, Mr Macron!
