My classical music choice: Moonlight Sonata

-

This week the musical choice is the first movement of Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata. I felt I should bring some calm to the week. This is played by Georgii Cherkin in his own orchestral arrangement.

This is only the second piece I have featured from Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827.) He instantly changed the certainties of the classical form by opening with a slow movement. The second movement acts as a pause before the stormy finale.
