I BELIEVE I have TCW writer Gary Oliver to thanks for my surprise invitation to appear on Mark Steyn’s GB News show on Friday night.
Gary had written in well-deserved praise of Mark’s welcome first venture back on to British TV after years of exile, a report that caught Mark’s eye.
So Friday night had me staring down a camera in the GB News studio, with Mark on the other side of the Atlantic, discussing the resurgence of the Rotherham child abuse scandal.
I am pretty damning about Conservative politicians. I should have made an exception of the Rother Valley MP, Alexander Stafford, who has launched a petition for action to be taken. However I hold out little hope that this Tory administration will have the guts or the staying power to take on the police, the abusers, the local authority and all the social work, drug and medical services that have allowed it.
My second apology, for not mentioning her bravery in bringing the original scandal to light, is to the Labour MP Sarah Champion, who withstood the accusations of racism that Steyn described.
