Net Zero, Covid and time for a rethink

THIS is a letter I have sent to my MP, Drew Hendry, and others. I await their replies.

To: Mr Drew Hendry, MP for Inverness and Nairn

Cc: Ms Nicola Sturgeon MSP, Scottish First Minister

Mr Boris Johnson MP, Prime Minister

Mr Douglas Ross MSP, Leader of the Scottish Conservatives

Bcc: The Conservative 1922 Committee and others

Dear Mr Hendry,

The energy crisis and how it connects to Covid

Regarding your Inverness Courier article, ‘Measures must be taken to tackle energy crisis’, your call on Boris Johnson to ‘tackle the energy crisis’ is a bit rich considering that you (with your shadow energy brief) and your SNP party have long been at the forefront of the misguided ‘climate change’ movement which has led the country into this long-predicted sorry state.

Dozens of energy companies have recently gone bust because of the spike in gas prices which they couldn’t pass on because of the energy price cap. One cause of this spike was last summer’s pan-northern Europe output slump from unreliable wind farms. Your proposal to freeze the price cap is unsustainable and would lead to more energy companies going bust.

This all comes back to the never justified, planned or costed Climate Change Act, now superseded by unachievable Net Zero. The only rational explanation for this ongoing madness is that the green agenda has been taken over by opportunistic WEF/UN globalists, including ‘thought police’ Big Tech, almost certainly not for any concern over alleged man-made global warming but as a means of achieving undemocratic world governance, just as they are now criminally attempting with Covid

I pointed out the obvious absurdities of our climate and energy policies to UK and Scotland politicians in my pre-COP26 paper The Futility of Net Zero (scroll down to get to the start). The Westminster addressees didn’t bother to respond. The Scottish Government responded to flaunt their ‘green credentials’, vainly laying out their lunatic Net Zero plans which I appended to my paper as Postscript 1, annotated with comments such as ‘all the green chickens are coming home to roost’.

Given that COP26 turned out to be a flop and that pursuing Net Zero unilaterally will only worsen our self-flagellating energy crisis for decades to come, all for indiscernible climate benefits, is it not time for you (and Boris Johnson) to have a major rethink?

Net Zero is based on fearmongering predictions from climate computer models which are as untrustworthy as Neil Ferguson’s provenly-wrong Covid computer models. Are you even aware that there has been no global warming at all this century and only a tiny warming since 1979, with some independent scientists predicting worrisome global cooling over coming decades? I came to similar conclusions in my July 2020 paper UK temperature analysis from 1659 to 2019

Irrespective of whether or not global warming is a problem, I showed that Net Zero was unachievable and pointless in my July 2020 paper Fossil fuel dependency shows Net Zero is impossible. It is pleasing to note that even the climate-fanatical EU appears to be coming to its senses by recently declaring gas and nuclear power to be ‘green’. Too bad they didn’t also concede that burning wood (biomass, mostly from North American forests) to generate our electricity is not green.

Isn’t it time for you (and Boris Johnson) to follow suit so that we can move on from the childish pretence that the country can by powered largely by weather-dependent, short-service-life so-called renewables and cheating, unsustainable biomass?

Will you support fracking as an alternative to importing essential gas from unreliable Vladimir Putin and others? Will you encourage the development of new North Sea fields such as Cambo to avoid having to import essential oil and gas from other countries, which would also give a useful boost to the economy? Will you support not shutting down the UK’s essential remaining coal power stations by 2024, maybe even the resumption of UK coal mining, and chivvy up the construction of dependable and dispatchable new power stations needed to keep the lights on? Will you support dropping the forlorn hope that all our homes can be heated by unsuitable, unaffordable heat pumps (£800k to convert Bute House) rather than well-established gas boilers, together with your other forlorn hope that everyone is going to make an infeasible and pointless switch to electric vehicles

Most importantly, will you (and Boris Johnson) stand up to the delusional green establishment and the rapacious, undemocratic tyranny of the WEF/UN/Big Tech/Big Money globalists and repeal your unworkable and pointless Net Zero legislation?

You politicians have needlessly trashed the UK economy and destroyed many lives by your treasonous collaboration and deceitful play-acting to support the same megalomaniac WEF/UN/Big Tech/Big Money globalists using the overblown Covid public health scare to ruthlessly pursue their covert agenda of undemocratic world domination and control. That short-term Covid malfeasance compounds your longer-term climate change malfeasance based on junk science which has led to Highland household fuel poverty reaching a shocking 33 per cent and set to rise steeply in April when the energy price cap could go up by 50 per cent.

Do you deny that your malevolent Covid policies such as banning the cheap and effective life-saving drugs ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine and maniacally promoting the absurdly dangerous experimental Covid vaccines even for children who are at negligible risk from the virus, all the more egregious given that the now-dominant Omicron variant is so mild, have caused tens of thousands of pointless deaths, severe injuries and massive societal collateral damage?

Do you deny that your make-believe Net Zero climate policies will ultimately lead to the pointless deaths of thousands of vulnerable people freezing or starving to death in their homes because of pointlessly sky-high energy prices and massive collateral damage to the economy?

A show of contrition and a start on making amends for the damage you have caused would be in order.

Yours faithfully,

Douglas Brodie
