No, minister. Most parents DON’T approve of gay sex lessons in primary schools

-

REMEMBER the British Values agenda – introduced to stop Islamists blowing themselves up on the Tube? We warned at the time that this would hijacked by special interest groups to push a very different agenda – and sure enough we have the LGBT agenda being pushed on to primary school kids. And there is nothing, dear parent, you can do about it.

Since when was it appropriate to force children to approve of the sex lives of adults? This is on the latest Conservative ‘must-do’ list. Schools Minister Nick Gibb goes full authoritarian saying: ‘Pupils must learn respect for gay love.’ Must they indeed?

In the piece headlined ‘It’s wrong to protest about the teaching of gay relationships’, Gibb discusses the protests at schools in Birmingham against the ‘No Outsiders’ programme and says, ‘As the Conservative Party starts the process of electing our new leader, I very much doubt that party members or the wider public (a much larger number) will be impressed by any candidate or their supporters siding with those who object to pupils being taught that same-sex relationships are normal and lawful.’

That’s quite an assumption. In the consultation to this change to the school curriculum, the majority of respondents did object to the teaching of same-sex relationships to young children, so Gibb is taking a punt there. I suspect the majority of Tory members would also object to it.

Gibb: ‘The protests outside a primary school in Birmingham which teaches the fact that same-sex relationships are normal and are as loving and supportive as any heterosexual relationship are in my view wrong.’ That is Gibb’s opinion. He is entitled to such an opinion, but in my opinion it is wrong for him to enforce that opinion on other people’s children.

The fact is three main religions, namely orthodox Catholics, Jews and Muslims, do say that same-sex relationships are wrong and are not equal to heterosexual relationships.

In this case two value systems collide and it is simply an abuse of power for a Minister to impose his value system in such a sensitive area of human relations on other people’s children. This Conservative government is imposing what was until a few years ago a very radical agenda on young children because it knows it is virtually impossible for parents to challenge it within the school system. Simply put, it is not the business of the State to force children to approve of certain adult relationships.

The fact that same-sex relationships and same-sex marriages exist is one thing. But ordering, mandating people, especially young children, to approve of such relationships is, simply put, outside the role and powers of a State education system. It is authoritarian and immoral. The fact that all of this is coming from a Conservative government just proves that the sooner the party dies the better it will be for the rest of us.

Christian parents will often seek to have a Christian value system taught to their children which will include the teaching of Christian virtues such as faith, hope and love. Other values should also include justice, solidarity, temperance, courage and wisdom.

Many parents do not believe it is the business of the State to force young children to approve of the sex lives of adults. This is profoundly wrong and will be resisted by many, whether Minister Gibb approves of it or not.
