There is a brilliant scene in Nineteen Eighty-Four when Winston Smith sees some children dancing around their father and observes that they look like tiger cubs who will grow up into man-eaters. Sure enough they eventually snitch on their father to the authorities and he disappears.
It seems like we have more and more of those tiger cubs today.
