One small but telling aspect of this whole nonsense inflames me.
That is the Government – and specifically Johnson’s – deranged and dishonest use of the slogan ‘Stay Home, Protect the NHS’.
I was under the illusion that the NHS was a ‘service’ to protect the public and assist the public in maintaining a reasonable level of personal health and wellbeing.
After 60-odd years, it came as a surprise to me to realise that I was supposed to be looking after it – regardless of the tens of thousands of £ of taxes I had paid in over the years – and it was not there for me.
Translating this across to – say – matters of defence, the equivalent would be: ‘In the event of an invasion, protect the Army and fight yourself.’
Given Johnson’s brass neck, I wouldn’t put it past him or the rest of his infantile ‘ministers’ to advocate just that.
