The left have always been more organised and active than the centre right when it comes to pushing their point of view on to the general public. Right back to the demos and pamphlets of the 60s. They’ve always characterised themselves as being involved in a ‘struggle’ which has been their key recruiting tool and ensured a steady flow of useful idiots joining the cause.
Social media has been an absolute boon to them. And the big web companies have found common cause because they also want to see a global/high state spending/low democracy/compliant population.
The big US web companies are now operating well outside the normal controls. They have more power than many Governments and no accountability. It’s hard to see how this power can be curbed any more. It is very worrying.
