A lot of this must lead straight to Priti P’s door. She’s had enough time now to make changes to the Met leadership and to start the de-politicisation of the police, but if anything things seem to be getting worse.
There is a problem with the people at the top of the police in every force across the UK, and a problem with the culture from top to bottom.
Like the BBC, police leaders appear to still fondly believe that it is held in some 1950s glow of affection by the public. In fact its reputation is plummeting among its natural supporters and no one seems to care.
