RUMOURS are circulating that Public Health England are telling dentists to expect and plan for further lockdowns from October this year to March next year.
Let’s hope this does not transpire. The bogey of an autumn lockdown has been mooted since last March when Dr Susan Hopkins, Public Health England’s strategic response director for Covid-19, started this round of doomladen projections by speculating that ‘the population may have less immunity to respiratory viruses such as flu due to the coronavirus pandemic’. Lockdown-loving Imperial College London jumped on this bandwagon a month or two later with new modelling for which Sage was the instigator, commissioner, director, judge and jury.
These are the people who are in charge of the Government’s Covid response.
The delaying of the third stage of Boris Johnson’s ‘roadmap out of lockdown’ until July 19 on the specious grounds of rising ‘variant’ cases, despite almost no deaths and no evidence of pressure on hospitals, suggests that the Sinophiles of Sage and PHE remain firmly in the saddle.
Making that pretty clear yesterday was the newly knighted Peter Horby, saying we should not lift lockdown rules early.
Who is he to tell us? A Sage expert, of course. The very same man who was accused of ‘incompetence, lying and big bucks’ by France Soir over his Recovery trials. The story of the killing off of any possibility of hydroxychloroquine treatment in the UK is told here.
If an autumn lockdown is actually a plan rather than a possibility we need some whistle-blowers to go public on it, and fast. The ‘experts’ cannot be allowed to hold the country to ransom again.
So, we ask any dental clinic staff or others out there who could confirm or refute that PHE are warning care providers about this plan/expectation to contact us. We will respect their confidence implicitly.
