A very interesting lesson on our history, and a savage indictment indeed of our feeble politicians, cowed and useless as they have proved to be. What a shameful position we have reached, when our ancient freedoms have been filched from us with scarcely a whimper of protest, and the contemptible majority of the population meekly acquiesce and behave like whipped curs rather than the proud inheritors of a noble past. Shame on them all!
